Our core values at KH Roberts revolve around our unwavering dedication to the health, safety, and well-being of our employees and the broader community. Within our organization, we have implemented robust policies that prioritise ethical business practices, including relevant measures for workplace health and safety, a strict prohibition of child and forced labour, and a robust emphasis on responsible and sustainable practices along our supply chain.
As we approach Earth Day, KH Roberts reaffirms its commitment to environmental protection. This commitment is a journey we take and a tangible reality reflected in the practices we uphold in our organisation. Whilst upholding our commitment to the highest standards of food safety and hygiene practices, we balance these needs with our practical approach to a collective green economy.
Recognising the importance of utilising limited natural resources efficiently, KH Roberts diligently monitors and optimizes resource usage. Our manufacturing teams conduct regular checks to identify inefficiencies and wastages, ensuring that we are minimising our environmental impact. One example was an initiative to replace a plastic capping in our packaging. Richard, our Manufacturing Manager, highlights recent changes in our packaging supply: “We have transitioned to a packaging type without plastic inner capping, significantly reducing unnecessary plastic consumption and streamlining our packaging processes. We are also exploring new solutions to further optimise the use of environmentally friendly paper-based packaging. Additionally, we work closely with the commercial teams to enhance demand forecast accuracy to optimise resource usage and minimise wastages.”
Regarding reducing plastic usage, Richard mentions that used plastic containers are repurposed for other uses, such as storing cleaning chemicals, demonstrating the teams’ commitment to sustainability, waste reduction and resource optimisation.
A thorough waste management strategy is an essential sustainable practice. Effectively reducing waste and ensuring proper disposal not only preserves the environment, but also prevents the health and safety risks for those handling the waste.
At KH Roberts, we practise proper waste disposal, ensuring that wastages are disposed correctly and safely according to the waste category. Leveraging the latest digital tools, our production team is able to implement the First In First Out (FIFO) rule diligently, ensuring all raw materials are used in a correct timely manner, further reducing waste and promoting efficiency.
We are proud to share that KH Roberts has implemented initiatives to transition to cleaner energy sources where viable, doing our best to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. Throughout our facility, energy-efficient LED lightings, motion-activated lightings and centralised, time-controlled ventilation systems are utilised to minimise energy consumption. The importance of employee involvement in sustainability efforts is emphasized, encouraging everyone to switch off lights and equipment when not in use, and promptly report any wastage. This collective effort underscores our commitment to reducing emissions and promoting a sustainable future.
KH Roberts’ commitment to sustainability is evident in every aspect of our organisation. From diligently monitoring and optimising resource usage to implementing innovative solutions for waste reduction and energy efficiency, everyone strives to minimise our environmental impact.
Dr Peter K.C. Ong, Chief Executive Officer of KH Roberts shares: “Sustainability is not just about what we do today, but about the legacy we leave for tomorrow. At KH Roberts, we are committed to leading by example in promoting sustainable practices, ensuring a greener and more sustainable future for all.”.
By continuing to innovate and include sustainability in our operations, we aim to inspire others to join us in making a positive impact on our planet.
